How should we proceed with characters?

Almost every character will have two portrayals by default; a literary and a film version (usually differing a lot, see Hugo Drax). As I see it, there's really two ways in which we can proceed:

  • We can either condense the existing data we have about characters, make the infoboxes much less detailed (so as to allow it to refer to wildly differing portrayals) and merge all their portrayals under one article.
  • Or we can provide separate articles for each portrayal, treating them as distinct characters and providing more detail than would be allowed under plan A. We can then link them with either tabview pages or disambiguation pages.

Above all, whatever we decide to do, I think consistency is vitally important to a good user experience. What say you all?
