Christoph Waltz is an Austrian actor from Vienna who played Ernst Stavro Blofeld alongside Daniel Craig in the film Spectre, and he reprised the role in No Time to Die.

Waltz also played a German spy in the 1989 Goldeneye: The Secret Life Of Ian Fleming TV movie.

Bond Involvement

Waltz's first involvement with the James Bond universe was in the 1989 made for TV movie, Goldeneye: The Secret Life Of Ian Fleming, in which Waltz portrays a German spy who encounters Ian Fleming, who is being portrayed by another Bond villain actor, Charles Dance.

In 2014, it was announced that Waltz would be joining the cast of the twenty-forth Bond movie, Spectre, where it was said that Waltz would be playing the role of Franz Oberhauser. However, due to the recent news at the time that the rights to use the character of Ernst Stavro Blofeld and the organisation SPECTRE had returned to EON, it was heavily rumoured that this was the role that Waltz had. Despite no offical confirmation, and Waltz insisting that he was not playing Blofeld, when the movie came out in 2015, it was confirmed that Waltz was indeed playing the role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

While there were rumours suggesting that he would not return to the role, in July 2019, it was confirmed that Waltz would again portray Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the twenty fifth Bond movie, No Time to Die,[1] becoming the one of the few actor to portray the role more than once, with Anthony Dawson and Eric Pohlmann having portrayed the body and voice respectively in From Russia with Love and Thunderball. This would be Waltz's final performance as the character.
