"You don't understand! He's everywhere! He's bigger than you, bigger than MI6, bigger than everything. And he's watching us right now. There is no escape."
― Nicole Hunter's final words[src]

Nicole Hunter was a wealthy jewelry designer, planted as MI6's contact in Monaco but also a high-ranking criminal operative. The character was the main Bond girl and antagonist in the 2010 video-game, James Bond 007: Blood Stone. She was portrayed by British singer and actress Joss Stone.

Biography[]

Introduction[]

A wealthy jewelry designer planted as MI6's contact in Monaco, Nicole's reason for being with MI6 wasn't M approaching her, but a tax problem and a customs problem involving diamonds. She teams up with James Bond when he lands in Monaco, in a tuxedo, almost unrecognisable to her and helped him go after Stefan Pomerov, whom Nicole knows very well. During the meeting with him, 007 broke into Pomerov's office and when he set the alarm off, their meeting was adjourned early.

Siberia[]

However, she helps 007 in Siberia by resuming the interrupted conversation while Bond finds Malcolm Tedworth's files. They got there by Nicole's friend's Aston Martin DBS V12 and has Bond pose as her bodyguard, hoping not to be recognised. When the refinery was ruined, Pomerov called off the meeting and fled off in a train and Nicole met up with Bond after getting the car and while they gave chase to Pomerov, they crash the car into the train, resulting in her left wrist being fractured.

Her knowledge about driving a hovercraft became useful to Bond. After Pomerov's death and the destruction of the bio-weapons, Nicole left for a vacation and offered 007 to join but he rejects to look further into Tedworth's kidnapping. Nicole also reassured him that her friend will not be angry about the car, claiming she is a terrible driver.

Epilogue[]

Blood Stone - The Death of Nicole

The death of Nicole.

However, in the epilogue level, her background story was revealed to be very mysterious, and it caused Bond to lose control in his investigation. Nicole was revealed to be the one who kidnapped Tedworth and was eventually confronted by Bond in Millau Viaduct in neighboring France after a high-speed car chase (proving that Nicole claiming to be a bad driver was a ruse, most likely to throw Bond off her scent by assuming the role of being out of her element when it comes to danger), both waving Walther P99s. After refusing to tell the name of her employer, she is killed by an unmanned aerial drone presumably the one her employer sent should she fail. She spoke of a very wealthy and powerful man with a huge organization at his command to whom she had to prove herself. Given the scope of the plan and resources used; it is possible she was talking about Ernst Stavro Blofeld. and by extension; she may have been working for SPECTRE, although this is unclear.

In the Nintendo DS version of Blood Stone, an alternate account of Bond's pursuit of Hunter and the latter's resultant death is presented. Hunter receives Rak's knife in an envelope instead of a small briefcase, and when she attempts to adjourn the meeting and make her escape, she also notices that Bond has notified her that he is downstairs and has hacked into her meeting. Bond then storms the building where Hunter was conducting the meeting, killing many bodyguards along the way to get to her as she flees downstairs to a garage to get in her car. The ensuing pursuit takes place almost entirely on the highways of Monaco on a cloudy day instead of a clear one and later on, unmanned drones strafe the road. As the chase ends at some harbor of sorts instead of the Millau Viaduct, rain begins to fall from the sky. This is where a large aircraft associated with Hunter's true superior, rather than an unmanned drone, kills Hunter with heavy gunfire rather than a precise sniper-like shot as she is confronted by Bond. Bond tries to fend off the aircraft with his pistol, but is forced to take cover behind the cars. Lightning flashes shortly after Hunter dies.

Trivia[]

  • After Adrian Malprave from Agent Under Fire, Nicole is the second female main antagonist created for the James Bond video-games.
  • It is implied that Nicole was working for the famous criminal organisation, SPECTRE.
  • Nicole share similarities with Miranda Frost from Die Another Day since they are both female MI6 agents who have been assigned by M to accompany Bond on his mission before turning out to be double agents who have fallen in love with a notorious criminal.
  • She is also similar to Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale, another Bond girl who acted as 007's ally before being revealed to have betrayed his cause out of love for a criminal. Also, like Nicole, Vesper agreed to die in front of Bond rather than face the consequences of her actions.
