Curd Gustav Andreas Gottlieb Franz Jürgens was a German-Austrian stage and film actor who played the evil villain Karl Stromberg in the 1977 Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me opposite Roger Moore. He was usually billed in English-speaking films as Curt Jurgens. He stood 1.92 metres (6 ft 4 in) tall (Brigitte Bardot nicknamed him "the Norman Wardrobe"), was married five times, and appeared in dozens of war films.

The Spy Who Loved Me[]

With the franchise in Broccoli's hands, and in search for the cast of the new movie Charles Juroe of EON's marketing department would end recommending Curt Jurgens for the role of Stromberg.[1]

Trivia[]

  • As of 2012, Curd Jürgens was the only main villain of the Roger Moore James Bond series who is deceased. This however changed in 2015 after the passing of Louis Jourdan early in that year.
  • Before playing the Stromberg, Curds played the James Bond stuntman in 1973 German comedy Klimbim.
