The flag of Portugal
Portugal (officially known as the Portuguese Republic) is a nation of southwestern Europe, that also includes the Macaronesian archipelagos of Azores and Madeira. Brazil, Macau, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Angola were former colonies of Portugal.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed partly in Portugal, which doubled for Corsica. The Man with the Golden Gun filmed the casino scenes in Macau (that by then was the portuguese Autonomous Region of Macau).
Behind the scenes[]
Casino Royale in the original novel is partly based on the old casinos in 1930s and 1940s Portugal, where spies from both the Allies and the Axis would run into each other.
