The Heckler & Koch MP7 (German: Maschinenpistole 7) is a submachine gun manufactured by the German Heckler & Koch. It is intended as a "personal defense weapon" (PDW) for non-frontline military crew and counter-terrorist units. It was designed with HK 4.6×30mm cartridge, which is designed to penetrate common contemporary infantry body armor.
It was designed to be a successor to Heckler & Koch's MP5 submachine gun, as well as a competitor to FN Herstal's P90.
