"This show is over and you're the one who's getting the hook!"
― Walker D. Plank, from the episode "Queen's Ransom".[src]

Walker D. Plank is a pirate who first appeared in the 1991 animated television series James Bond Jr. and the accompanying 1992 Marvel comic-book series of the same name. He is one of the series' primary antagonists and is often paired alongside fellow S.C.U.M. member Jaws.

Biography[]

Captain Walker D. Plank is a stereotypical pirate, complete with hook hand, eye-patch, wooden leg and a talking parrot (that also has an eye-patch and a peg-leg). His schemes are invariably nautical and involve pillage, plunder, and domination of all the oceans in the world. He was an original villain created for the animated series, however it is strongly suggested he was inspired by Karl Stromberg, given both villains had to do with oceanography, although Plank is more crude and far less refined in manner and ambition than Stromberg. It is also evident that Walker D. Plank may be more skilled at seamanship and navigation than Stromberg, but far less knowledgeable about oceanography.

One of Captain Plank's schemes was to steal ships for the purposes of creating his own navy that could activated by remote control and terrorize any coastal city in the world. Plank, however, used that idea as an afterthought; his first goal of his private navy was to become super rich, as over 90% of the world's goods travel by merchant vessels, Plank could gain control of the world's shipping lanes and nothing could pass unless a tax was paid to him. However that conspiracy was foiled when I.Q. reconfigured Captain Plank's radar coordinates with a video game, which caused the ships to fire on each other and thus sabotage Plank's scheme. This was likely a nod to the original Bond film where Karl Stromberg was foiled in his plan by having the stolen submarines reprogrammed on each instead of the intended targets of Moscow and New York City.

Trivia[]

His name is a pun on the phrase "walk the plank", as in the punishment which pirates used to mete out to their victims.
