Henry Fraser was a fictional Communications Duty Officer within the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS/MI6) and a former operative of the Service's ultra-covert Black Ops unit - the 'Double-O' ('00') Branch. The character appeared in Anthony Horowitz's 2015 James Bond continuation novel Trigger Mortis.
Biography[]
Described as "a darkly handsome man with the broad shoulders and solid features of a rugby player"[1], Henry Fraser was an operative of the British Secret Service's ultra-covert Black Ops unit, the 'Double-O' Branch, until an ill-fated assignment in Lisbon, Portugal left him paralyzed via a gunshot wound to the spine. Head of Intelligence, M, had the wheelchair-bound officer reassigned to the Communications Department where he serves as Communications Duty Officer at the time of Trigger Mortis.[1]
Trivia[]
- At a charity auction to raise funds for London's Air Ambulance, two bidders - Nigel Wray and Bernardo Hertogs - each paid a substantial sum of money to appear as a character in Trigger Mortis, the proceeds going towards the purchase of a helicopter. Wray subsequently donated his appearance to Henry Fraser.[2]
- Notably, Fraser's former-00 number is not revealed during the novel.
