Joseph Wiseman (May 15, 1918 – October 19, 2009) was a Canadian theater and film actor, best known for starring as the titular antagonist of the first James Bond film, Dr. No.

Life

Joseph Wiseman was born on 15 May, 1918, in Montreal, a suburb in Quebec, Canada, to Orthodox-Jewish parents. Moving to New York at 16, he invested in summer stock, and was a professional, much to his parents' dismay.

The "spookiest actor in the american theater" made his first broadway debut in 1938, enrolling in the show business.

In 1962, Joseph Wiseman, now 44, was called up to Elstree Studios, in London, to play his spookiest, and most famous role ever: Dr. Julius No.

The main filming location for him was in Kingston, Jamaica, for the location of Crab Key, the forbidden island, and home of the chinese doctor.

Death

After marrying twice, Joseph Wiseman moved back to Manhattan, and stayed there for good.

On the 19th of October 2009, Joseph Wiseman passed away from heart problems, dying at 91.
