Number Nine is a fictional prominent operative and board member of the global criminal organisation SPECTRE. A minor antagonist, the character appeared in EON Productions' 1965 James Bond film Thunderball. He was portrayed by actor Clive Cazes.
Number Nine is present at the SPECTRE cabinet meeting in Paris. According to Number Eleven's report, both men were involved in the distribution of Red China narcotics in the United States. The operation netted $2,300,000; considerably less than the organization had expected.
Eleven places the blame on competition from Latin America driving down prices and insists that all monies have been accounted for, but Blofeld is not satisfied with the excuse and decides that one of the two men is guilty of embezzlement. Having decided on an appropriate course of action, Blofeld prepares to execute the guilty man by way of electrocution. After several seconds of tension and despite a seemingly calm demeanor, Number Nine is electrocuted to death in his chair.
