R was the implied codename of Q's assistant in the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. His character became the new Q in Die Another Day (2002) and made his final appearance in the subsequent video-game Everything or Nothing (2003). The character was primarily portrayed by John Cleese, with Miles Anderson standing in for the video-game Agent Under Fire (2001). In 2008 the R code-name saw a return in Sebastian Faulks' novel Devil May Care as the SIS Psychological Fitness Assessor.
