The meteorite crater's exterior was filmed in June 2015 around a crater called Gara Medouar near the Moroccan city of Erfoud.[1] The sequence depicting the climactic destruction of SPECTRE's facility used 8418 litres of fuel and 33kg of explosives[2] and holds a Guinness World Record for the "Largest film stunt explosion" in cinematic history, with the record credited to production designer Chris Corbould.[3]
