"Skyfall" is the theme song to the 2012 film of the same name, performed by Adele, set in the key of E flat with a total of 3 flats: B, A and E. The film, which is the twenty-third James Bond film to be released, was released in October and November of 2012 in the UK and US, respectively.

Recording

Adele agreed to record the movie's theme song, and she was even spotted at Abbey Road Studios sometime earlier in September 2011 where the score for Skyfall was being created by composer Thomas Newman. Adele hinted at working on the song in April 2011, when she told The Jonathan Ross Show that she had to go into the studio in November to record a “theme". She further stated: "Wow, that's really giving something away!"

Awards

• "Skyfall" won Best Original Song in the 85th Academy Awards, this was the third  Bond theme to be nominated for an Oscar since "Live and Let Die" (1972), "For Your Eyes Only" (1981) and "Nobody Does It Better" (1977). It was also the first Bond theme to win the award.
• "Skyfall" also won the 2013 Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
