The Soviet Union or USSR (now Russia) is the most used country for the bad guys in Bond movies. James Bond have visited Russia several times, and know both foes and friends there. In GoldenEye, Bond travels there to meet a CIA agent Jack Wade know to have a Rose tattoo. Bond also meets Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky an ex-KGB agent, who set a meeting up with Alec Trevelyan known in Russia as "Janus".

Later in the Movie Bond travels to Siberia (northern Russia) where he meets Natalya Fyodorovna Simonova and the programmer Boris Grishenko
