Despite murmurs of wanting to let Bond go for sake of other projects, it's official: oscar-winning Skyfall director Sam Mendes will back for another round of Bond (shaken, not stirred.) Following an earlier announcement that actor Daniel Craig and screenwriter John Logan will also be returning to work on the untitled Bond 24, Sony and MGM announced today that the director, who's best known for his work on films like American Beauty and Revolutionary Road is set to return, proving that the studio and distributor are quite happy with the way things worked out with Skyfall (and for good reason -- the film was a critical darling and brought in over a billion dollars.)
"I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again,” Mendes said in a statement.
I for one am thrilled -- I thought Skyfall was one of the best Bond films in ages, in large part due to Mendes' direction. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
