"Please..... make it quick."
― Yusef to Bond after being defeated.[src]

Yusef Kabira (Arabic:يوسف كبيرة) is a member of the shadow organization Quantum who seduces high-ranking women with valuable connections. The character is first mentioned in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale before he appears in its sequel, the 2008 film Quantum of Solace as a minor antagonist. Kabira is also mentioned in the video game adaptation of the film. He is portrayed by actor Simon Kassianides.

Biography[]

Following the death of Vesper Lynd in Venice, Italy, James Bond learns by his superior M that Vesper has a French-Algerian boyfriend and that she had stolen the winnings Bond had acquired in his poker match with Le Chiffre so that she could pay for Kabira's release from an unnamed criminal organization. This prompted Bond to track Mr. White down and take him into custody.

However, following White's escape from custody, it turns out that Kabira is actually working for Quantum who seduces high-ranking women with valuable connections, getting them to give up government assets as ransom for himself in fake kidnappings where he is supposedly held hostage, implying that he had a role in Vesper's death the entire time. After interrogating Dominic Greene following General Medrano's death, Bond learns of Kabira's true occupation with Quantum and that he is currently targeting Canadian agent Corinne Veneau, even giving her the same kind of necklace he gave to Vesper.

Following Greene's death and the assumed dismantling of Quantum, Bond surprises the pair in Kabira's apartment where he tells Corinne about Vesper and advises her to alert the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Realizing now that he's done for, Kabira decides to accept his fate by asking Bond to kill him and get it over with. However, rather then killing Yusef, Bond instead spares him and leaves him to be arrested by MI6 for good, to the surprise of M, who is waiting outside. As he leaves, Bond drops Vesper's necklace in the snow.

Later, Bond would learn that Quantum was nothing more than a front run by Ernst Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE, and that Kabira was nothing more than a middleman as part of Blofeld's plot to wreak psychological pain on Bond.
